Manipulation Under Anesthesia
Manipulation Under Anesthesia is the term used to describe the process of moving and stretching the body of a sedated patient to help restore normal range of motion and decrease or eliminate pain. It is performed a by a team of at least three health care professionals (patients meet with each of their selected doctors prior to the procedure) which may include any combination of Doctors of Chiropractic, Medical Doctors, and Doctors of Osteopathy.
Although MUA is performed in an operating room, it is NON-invasive and often eliminates the need for surgery. It can also be used to treat chronic pain in cases where there is no clear surgical option available.
